Comment on Public Tree Code by Feb. 4
One of the most significant actions recommended in the Urban Forestry Master Plan (UFMP) is to strengthen policies to protect and preserve trees in Columbus. We are now beginning this process by updating our public tree code!
Public trees are trees that grow along streets and in parks, and they are under the care of Columbus Recreation and Parks Department's Forestry section. Once those updates are made, the next step is to develop new City code for private trees, those trees that grow on private property.
We will review and update public tree code before moving onto creating private tree regulations. But first we need to hear from you!
Comment on the Public Tree Code - We have already collected input from the community on tree protection throughout the UFMP process, and now we are asking residents to share comments on Columbus' public tree code. The comment period will be open through Friday, Feb. 4. We will be using your comments to write up a draft code.
