NWCA Next Monthly Meeting: February 1, 2012

Our next monthly meeting is February 1, 2012, at 7:00 pm. in room 213 of the Meadow Park Church, 2425 Bethel Road.

Mr. Andy Taylor, Planning Coordinator for the Mid-Ohio Regional Planning Commission [MORPC], will present the “2012 Metropolitan Transportation Plan” and answer questions.

Representatives from the Department of Development, Police Department, and Fire Department also will attend to answer any questions that you may have.

(We have no zoning items on the agenda this month.)

Hello, Neighbors!

The Northwest Civic Association [NWCA] serves the citizens of Northwest Columbus, Ohio. Our principal role is to advise Columbus City Council on rezoning, variance, and graphics issues, but we also advocate for our local citizens in their dealings with other City government agencies.

Over the past few years, NWCA has worked hard to keep our community a great place to live, to work, and to raise a family. Here are a few highlights:

We worked with the Department of Development and City Council to pass the Northwest Regional Commercial Overlay, to enhance the safety and aesthetics along Bethel Road and Sawmill Road through additional landscaping and graphic requirements.
We solicited input from local citizens and presented our recommendations to City Council on dozens of proposed variances and rezoning applications.
We worked with Sharon Township to oppose the proposed roundabout at the intersection of Olentangy and Linworth Roads.
We helped the Northwest Fire Department to attain over $200,000 in funds to repair their building to be able to arrive at emergencies more quickly.

Incorporated in 1969, NWCA is managed by a volunteer Board of Trustees who are elected from our Members. Our project funding comes solely from Member annual dues.

We need your help! Please join us and help make sure our community remains strong. Come to our meetings on the first Wednesday of each month, voice your concerns, and help us keep Northwest Columbus the great place it already is!

NWCA seeks new trustees!

Are you concerned about your community? Do you want to get involved as a decision maker in a well-established community organization? The Northwest Civic Association is looking for you!
