Linworth/Olentangy Roundabout

General Information:  The Franklin County Engineer has been studying a redesign forthe intersection of Linworth Rd. and Olentangy River Rd.  The preferred alternative design for the this intersection improvement is a realignment of the roadways as a single-lane modern roundabout.  Plans will be completed this year in preparation for the project to be built as early as 2010.

 Public Meetings:  The first public open house was held on February 9, 2009 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., at the Christian Community Church North, 5586 Olentangy River Road. The Sharon Township Trustees will host a meeting to hear from their constituents on proposed improvements to the Olentangy River Road and Linworth Road intersection on Wednesday, March 18, 2009 from 6:00-7:00 pm at Memorial Hall, 137 E. Dublin-Granville Rd. The Trustees will dedicate an hour for this discussion.  The focus of the meeting is to get feedback from Sharon Township residents. Franklin Co. The NWCA will also host a public meeting with the Franklin County Engineer on Wednesday April 29, 2009 from 6:00-8:00 pm.  Location Meadow Park Church of God, 2425 Bethel Rd. The Engineer will make a formal presentation and take direct questions from the audience.

NWCA’s Position:   The NWCA have not made a formal recommendation on this project.  During the May Monthly meeting, the Board of Trustees will vote to make a formal position on this project.  At this point, the Board is doing everything it can to learn more about the plans and help residents receive answers to their very important questions.

Independant Review:  After much public comment and a general negative view of the Roundabout, the Franklin County Engineer sought an independant review from the U.S. Department of Transportation Federal HIghway Administration in conjuction with Iowa State University, Institute for Transportation.  The results of that study were published on November 30, 2009.  Click here to read the Final ReportNWCA will remain is close contact with Sharon Township and Franklin County regarding this very important matter.
