The Student Intern and Schools Committee works with schools within the Northwest Area of Columbus. It also is in charge of the Centennial High School Student Trustee Intern Program.
Centennial High School Intern Program: The NWCA Student Intern Program started in 1988 as a partnership between NWCA and Columbus City Centennial High School. This opportunity allows CHS Seniors and Juniors, who live in the NWCA service area, to join the Board as voting trustees. Prior to selection, students are required to submit an application and are interviewed by a committee. There are 3 to 4 student interns on the Board each year. The goal of the program is to educate students about local government and issues, and spark their interest in giving back to the community. Students are encouraged to participate in committees and take on projects that benefit the community.
Students are also welcome to serve on NWCA Committees. Committee work is open to any CHS students who live in the NWCA service area who is a member of the NWCA. The goal of this program is to engage students to become more involved in the neighborhood. Additionally, the goal is to familiarize students with the Board to produce a natural progression to the Student Intern position.
